Based in Portland, Oregon, Bohemian Salt specializes in lightweight, delicate accessories made from mixed metals, minimalist shapes, and raw materials. The pieces vary and incorporate raw gemstones, sea urchin spikes, and tanzanite. Her supplies are ethically sourced from American suppliers, and no two pieces are exactly alike. I love that about it.
Here are a few of my favorite pieces from her shop:
I was the first of my friends to tie the knot. I was young. I was fortunate enough to fall in love with the greatest guy I know. We are still together and his unwavering love and support makes me happy.
The funny thing about it all is I eloped. My husband and I couldn’t decide on where to get married. A destination wedding came to mind, but he didn’t have a passport. On a whim, we went to the local courthouse one Friday afternoon in January and tied the knot. I wore pants. My father hopped a last-minute flight from Texas to be there. It was a small and simple affair, but perfect for two kids with no money who were just starting out.
Fast forward a few years later and I played bridesmaid in more weddings than I can count. The colors have varied from hot pink to champagne to cobalt blue. I’ve stood by my friends while they married people who were perfect for them, and others who weren’t so perfect for them in Spanish villas, California beaches, cruise ships, and while holding a huge bouquet of pink peonies in a New Jersey spring garden.
I’ve watched them grow and become incredible mothers to their adorable children, and I’ve even seen some marriages not end up the way they hoped. In the game of life you never know how things are going to work out.
When Lover.ly, the Pinterest-style wedding website reached out last week asking if I would style my perfect wedding scenario, I jumped at the opportunity. I daydreamed about whether I would have a City Glam or Rustic Chic wedding. The urban affair ultimately won my heart over. I would keep things small. No more than 25 people, and only my nearest and dearest in attendance.
I would wear a dress this time around. I see myself jetting off to an incredible city like Paris, and marrying amidst the historic architecture. I’d allow myself to get swept up in the romance of it all. We’d end the day in a little restaurant drinking Champagne and Burgundy while eating the most delicious French food. I would hire the best damn photographer money could buy. Like Ira Lippke or Jonas Peterson.
My love of vintage and lace led me to choose this knee length dress from their Wedding Dresses page. I accessorized it with a birdcage veil complete with feathers, sky high patent leather Valentino heels, and delicate accessories.
This post is dedicated to my dearest friend Rachel, who just recently got engaged to the love of her life Pablo. I love you, and I couldn’t be happier for you both. May you have the most amazing wedding and a lifetime of happiness together.
These leather sandals are already a favorite for being both comfortable and chic.
A delicate necklace is always the perfect date night accessory.
Blue is my color, so it’s no surprise that a turquoise ring has caught my eye.
Just a dab of my favorite sunscreen leaves my face feeling soft and fresh.
A perfect pair of floral pants never cease to make me smile.
I’m ready for warm nights, dinner dates with my husband, and a pedicure peeking out from my sandals. Sometimes I have difficulty determining what direction I want my style to take. I gravitate to looks that are both pretty, and can do double duty going straight from the office to drinks. I imagine wearing this to our dinner date next week, or for a late night out in sipping cocktails with the girls. Perfect for me.
Next month we are heading to Costa Rica for a week to relax and celebrate my birthday. An old friend of mine was awesome enough to coordinate our stay in her boss’ adorable beach bungalow.
I’m looking forward to sun soaked afternoons catching up on the books I started but never finished, long walks with my love on the beach, finally learning how to surf, and eating the freshest seafood and tropical fruit I can get my hands on.
My style is always evolving, but I stick with the classics when it comes to resort wear. I’m a California girl at heart, so I aim for a type of effortless, breezy style.
I’m really looking forward to my sun-soaked Costa Rican adventure. If you’ve been and have any insights, tips, or recommendations you’d like to share by all means leave me a comment. I would love to hear all about it.
December is without a doubt my absolute favorite month of year. The holiday season is usually chock full of wonderful things: creating memories with my family, celebrating life, bringing joy to others, giving back to the community, and discovering beautiful things that make me smile.
I have been coveting some of these treasures for a while, while some have recently captured my attention. Here’s a round-up of items I would be very glad to see under my tree this holiday season.
Every wardrobe needs a great boyfriend. Today, I had two. I’m a lucky girl.
I finally made it to Torrid and tried on a few pairs of their new boyfriend jean. While I know that great boyfriend jeans are light wash and perfectly worn, I opted for this dark wash to add some polish. In hindsight, I should have sized them up for a slouchier fit, but I have been living in these since I purchased them and I love them.
I purchased this boyfriend blazer a few years ago at United Colors of Benetton, and it hung in my closet unworn until about six months ago. I don’t really know why. It’s a great jacket. I think my style had to evolve a bit before I figured out how to wear it.
This LOVE 21 cold-shoulder top has the cutest ikat style elephant print. I wore the heck out of it this summer and I’m still wearing it now.
My canary yellow studded clutch, suede booties, skeleton bracelet, and feather earrings provided the right amount of edge.

Black and White, the ultimate juxtaposition, seems to be a big color trend this season. At least that’s what every window display showcased at NorthPark in Dallas this past weekend.
I fell in love with this blouse on Forever21.com. It’s flowy, feminine, and seems rather nondescript at first glance, but once I saw the vertical split barely held together by two beautiful bows in the back I instantly smiled. My next task is to find the perfect sexy bra to wear underneath.
This black jacquard pleated skirt is an oldie but goody. I purchased it last winter from New York and Company, and I’m glad the weather has cooled down enough for me to wear it again.
I bought these booties at Nordstrom yesterday, and the stud detailing gives them the right amount of edge, with the suede providing a note of texture some of my outfits seem to be without. Naya shoes are manufactured with comfort and the environment in mind, using renewable materials like cork and breathable leather linings. From boyfriend jeans to dresses and skirts, these will get a lot of wear this season.
I finished off the look with an animal print clutch, some black opaque tights, and a mix of my favorite accessories.
The items below are my current fashion obsessions that are finding a permanent home in my wardrobe. Fall 2013 might be my favorite season yet. From the resurgence of classic prints in feminine shades, to pops of green, to coated denim – there hasn’t been a trend I have seen so far that I didn’t love. Well, the camouflage one threw me for a loop, but with the right accessories I can see myself giving it a shot.
I adore this leather jacket from ASOS Curve. I think it’s the sleeves that have won me over. It might be my first purchase of the lot.
I can’t take my eyes off this Kendra Scott bib necklace. I love everything about it, and while I tend to gravitate towards delicate chains and smaller accessories I can’t see myself being without this piece.
Another ASOS Curve piece I keep coming back to is the black origami top. I’m thinking of topping it off with a leopard print skinny waist belt, and finishing the look off with some coated oxblood skinnies and black high heel booties.
The minute I saw this blush leopard print number by Dorothy Perkins I knew I had to have it. Really, it’s pink, feminine, and oh so pretty.
The classic black trapeze handbag is part of the upcoming 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for Target. Sneak previews have been popping up online everywhere and I. LOVE. EVERYTHING. Look for it online and in stores September 15.
I’m finally going channel my inner Nancy Sinatra and order a pair of killer knee-high boots. The beautiful jade green hue makes a statement, and the suede outer will add a nice textural element and a level of richness to my outfits.
This will be my first Fall here in Dallas, and the sweltering Summer months have me completely abandoning the notion of heavy outerwear and thicker sweaters, but like most things that can change quickly. What I have assembled though is a really beautiful start.
