Capturing Emerging Traditional Interior Designer Brittney Lane at Home
When talented artist turned Interior Designer Brittney Lane and I connected on Instagram earlier this year, I knew we were going to create magic together. Brittney had worked with professional photographers before, but never one who specialized in capturing her Interior Design work. Once we connected, I started making plans to trek out to East Texas to photographer her stunning home.
This was the first photo shoot I have traveled outside of the Dallas Fort Worth area for, and it certainly won’t be my last. My good friend and fellow photographer Tracy Wind hopped a flight out from Connecticut to assist me for the two day photoshoot. It was a true dream to capture Brittney’s stunning home, she’s created a haven that exudes warmth, elegance, and has a killer eye for styling and unique accessories.
A Stunning Example of Traditional Interior Design and Style
As an interior design photographer, I’ve seen first hand the magic that can occur when the design, styling, and florals are flawlessly executed. I knew this was something I wanted to achieve, so the days leading up to the session I sent Brittney my Pinterest Boards for styling inspiration, asked her to send me images and a walk through video of the rooms we were photographing. I studied the natural light direction and source and determined what rooms were being photographed first. Two weeks before our session, I scheduled a 45 minute Zoom call with her so we could go over our shot list and styling plan, ensuring we were on the same page. Once the Zoom session concluded, I sent Brittney a shopping list of items she would need to acquire the day before our photoshoot.
Brittney’s home is a true stunner, lined with windows overlooking her backyard, natural light just pours into her space, creating captivating light everywhere you look. Every piece of furniture was intentionally chosen and her entire home was beautifully neutral, yet showcased her eye for high contrast, bold and beautiful design.
Where Creativity Soars: The Home Office
Brittney Lane’s design skills truly shine in her beautiful home office. Just off her entryway through glass doors, it’s where Brittney creates her clients design plans and mood boards. This space is both timeless and stunning, with each corner being more special than the other. The view from the hallway into her office showcases her desk, art, and area rug. Across from her desk is the most chic reading nook, complete with unique art, a black and white plant table, and a stack of books for reading.
Where the Memories are Made: The Kitchen
Brittney Lane’s design prowess truly shines in the heart of her home - the stunning kitchen. The all-white kitchen cabinets and neutral veined stone backsplash evoke a sense of neutral simplicity rooted in classic style. It was the perfect canvas to be styled to perfection, like these freshly foraged branches she cut from the side of the road, a stack of cookbooks, artichokes and eggplant, and interesting art. The kitchen is not just a space, it’s a gathering place that will create memories and meals for years to come.
The Power of Interior Design and Styling
Working with Brittney Lane was a prime example of how hiring an interior designer who’s well versed in styling can elevate a living space to extraordinary heights. At the end of the day, it’s not just about aesthetics, it’s about creating a feeling of comfort and refinement that helps you to live beautifully. The thoughtful and intentional arrangements of elements, the color palette, and the meticulous selection of furniture and decor all played a pivotal role in shaping the ambiance that is her family home.
As an interior design photographer, I’ve had the honor of witnessing firsthand how these elements can transform the space and the lives of the people who inhabit them. For me, I know I’ve done a good job if my photography captures the essence of a place, the emotions it evokes, and the stories it tells. For me, it’s more than just taking photographs, I want to be a vessel and let my photography be a window into a world where life is beautiful and well-lived, so people can become inspired and create a little piece of heaven for themselves on Earth.
