A designer’s own home offers a particularly personal look at how they approach interiors. For Brittney Lane of Brittney Lane Interiors, that means classic foundations layered with contrast, collected pieces, thoughtful styling, and details that give each room its own identity.
Her East Texas home is predominantly neutral, but never quiet. Crisp whites sit alongside black accents, warm wood tones, expressive artwork, natural greenery, and a mix of old and new. Throughout the home, Brittney’s eye for styling brings those elements together in spaces that feel polished without losing the warmth of a family home.
Classic Foundations, Layered with Contrast
The home begins with a restrained foundation that allows the furnishings, artwork, and smaller details to carry much of the visual interest.
Rather than relying on an abundance of color, Brittney creates contrast through shape, scale, texture, and tone. Black accents punctuate lighter rooms, natural wood introduces warmth, and carefully chosen furnishings keep the neutral palette from feeling predictable.
It is a recurring idea throughout the home: simplicity in the foundation creates room for personality in the layers.
A Home Office That Reflects the Designer
Just beyond the entry, glass doors lead into Brittney’s home office, a space that feels particularly representative of her creative point of view.
Her desk, artwork, rug, books, and collected accessories turn a working space into something much more personal. Across the room, a reading nook creates another distinct moment, layering art and sculptural pieces around a place designed to sit, read, and gather inspiration.
Because this is where Brittney develops plans and ideas for her clients, the room offers an interesting glimpse into the environment behind her creative work.
A Kitchen Rooted in Classic Simplicity
In the kitchen, white cabinetry and softly veined stone establish a timeless backdrop.
What gives the room its character is everything layered on top of that foundation. Foraged branches introduce height and movement, while cookbooks, produce, artwork, and everyday objects bring color and life to the composition.
The styling feels considered without becoming precious. It still reads as a kitchen meant to be cooked in, gathered around, and enjoyed.
That balance between refinement and livability carries throughout the home.
The Art of the Collected Detail
Some of the most memorable moments in Brittney’s home happen on a smaller scale.
Artwork, books, vessels, greenery, textiles, and unexpected objects are used throughout the rooms to create compositions that feel collected over time rather than purchased all at once.
These details also reveal an important part of Brittney’s approach to design: styling is not simply the finishing touch. It is part of how a room develops its personality.
A branch extending beyond the edge of a vessel, a stack of books beneath an object, or an unexpected piece of art can completely change the rhythm of a space.
Design Details Worth Noticing
High-Contrast Accents
Black furnishings and accessories give definition to the home's predominantly neutral palette.
Collected Artwork
Art introduces personality throughout the home and keeps the classic interiors from feeling overly formal.
Foraged Greenery
Loose, organic branches bring scale and movement to otherwise tailored compositions.
Layered Styling
Books, vessels, produce, artwork, and everyday objects create moments that feel considered but lived-in.
A Creative Home Office
Brittney's workspace combines function with the same collected, layered approach found throughout the rest of her home.
Classic Kitchen Finishes
White cabinetry and softly veined stone create a timeless foundation that allows styling and natural elements to become the focus.
Photographing Brittney Lane's Home
Photographing a designer's personal home is an opportunity to document more than a collection of finished rooms. The smaller choices often say just as much about their creative point of view as the larger design decisions.
For this project, that meant looking beyond the wide compositions to the relationships between objects, the contrast between dark and light, the layers within each vignette, and the styling decisions that give Brittney's home its character.
The final gallery moves between complete rooms and closer studies of the details within them, creating a visual story of a home that feels distinctly personal to the designer who created it.
