A Study in Warmth and Restraint
Some homes make an impression through bold color or dramatic contrast. Sweet Like Honey takes a quieter approach.
Designed by Kate Marker Interiors and built by Coats Homes, the Frisco residence layers warm neutrals, natural materials, soft textures, and thoughtful architectural details to create spaces that feel refined without feeling overly formal.
Throughout the home, subtle variations in tone give the restrained palette depth. Warm woods sit alongside natural stone, tactile textiles soften clean architectural lines, and carefully selected furnishings bring character without competing with the architecture.
The result is a home that feels collected rather than decorated, with rooms that are polished enough to photograph beautifully while still feeling comfortable enough for everyday life.
The Design Vision
The beauty of Sweet Like Honey is found in the relationship between its materials.
Rather than relying on a single statement element, the home builds visual interest through layers. Wood, stone, plaster, metal, textiles, and handcrafted finishes introduce subtle shifts in texture and tone from one space to the next.
That restraint allows individual details to have greater presence. The grain of a wood cabinet, the movement within a slab of stone, the silhouette of a piece of furniture, or the transition between architectural materials becomes part of the larger composition.
There is an ease to the finished home that can make the design appear simple at first glance. Look closer, however, and it becomes clear how much thought went into creating that sense of effortlessness.

Behind the Lens
Sweet Like Honey holds a special place in my photography portfolio. I photographed this home during my first year in business, at a time when I was beginning to define how I wanted to approach interior photography and the kinds of projects I hoped to photograph more of in the future.
Working with a home of this scale gave me the opportunity to think beyond documenting individual rooms and begin considering how a complete collection of photographs could tell the story of a project. Wide architectural compositions established the relationships between spaces, while smaller moments captured the materials, details, and layers that gave the home its character.
My approach to photography has continued to evolve in the years since, but many of the ideas that shape my work today began with early projects like this one: photographing with intention, looking for the details that make a space distinctive, and creating imagery that allows thoughtful design to remain at the center of the story.

A thoughtfully photographed project becomes more than a record of a finished home.
The complete collection from Sweet Like Honey was created to give the project team imagery that could continue working long after the photography session, from portfolio and website use to social media, editorial opportunities, awards, and future marketing.
Photographing both the larger architectural story and the smaller details creates that versatility. A full-room composition may become the image that introduces the project, while a quiet material detail can tell an entirely different part of the story.
Together, they preserve not only how the home looked when it was completed, but the craftsmanship and design decisions that made it distinctive.
