Dallas Jewelry Retail Photography: New Work for Gorjana Southlake

Gorjana Southlake store in Texas.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing modern jewelry brand Gorjana’s new store that opened at Southlake Town Center in north Texas. Their vision for the photo shoot was a light and bright boutique space showcasing natural light pouring through the large windows. I arrived a little after sunrise (which is 5:30am here in Texas during the summertime) to capture some exterior shots before I had access to the boutique space at 8am. Being a Dallas Jewelry Retail Photographer is a lot of fun, but early mornings and twilight evenings are a must do for that beautiful soft light for photographing exteriors.

It was a quick shoot, only two hours, and the boutique was still having the finishing touches put on indoors by a construction crew. They had some shipping delays (really, who isn’t affected by this nowadays) on some arched doors that framed the back wall, and they had painters inside touching up the door trim and doing some finish work. I had to get really creative with compositions since a quarter of the space had wet paint on the walls and and a whole lotta dust on the floors. Considering that was the case, you’d never know it from merely looking at the these images, which is a huge relief to me.

Gorjana specializes in minimal jewelry ideal for layering and combining with other pieces. They also carry some fine jewelry made from 14k gold, birth gemstones, and diamonds. This place just oozes the laid-back, light and bright, cool girl aesthetic all over my Instagram feed.

Interiors can be challenging to photograph, for a multitude of reasons. Every photo is a puzzle that needs to be solved before you can move on to the next composition. I learned a lot during this session, and while I walked away with beautiful photos, I mapped out a game plan to modify my workflow for future sessions. Evolution is one of my core values, and I’m always looking for ways to improve and fine tune my processes.

I loved the terrazzo tile and pink walls that surrounded the fine jewelry wall, the white oak jewelry cases, and the cane chairs in the lounge area. I love photographing this retail space and I’m genuinely looking forward to doing more of them this year.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the session. Enjoy.
